Kerr Family Funerals are proud to be members of the Association of Green Funeral Directors.
In a world where sustainability and our carbon footprint are foremost in our thoughts, we pride ourselves in being able to offer products that are made from sustainable materials, whether that be a cardboard, wicker or bamboo coffin there is a whole range of sustainable products that we are happy to advise on and to supply.
We work with all of the major coffin suppliers, but have a special relationship with Bradnam Joinery and Ecoffins. We can supply information and details on having a natural, woodland burial for your loved one, and there are a number of these natural cemeteries around.
Here at Kerr Family Funerals, we want to empower each bereaved family to arrange a funeral which meets their individual needs, allowing them to have as much involvement as they want, whether that be for a burial or a cremation. We will of course be with you every step of the way.
In adhering to the AGFD code of practice we also make specific pledges:
- Embalming – not to carry out embalming as a routine procedure, but instead to give an accurate and clear explanation of the procedure, and only carry out the procedure at the direct request of our families, or as a regulatory requirement.
- Coffins – Our website has a range of environmentally-friendly coffins that we are able to supply. We only use suppliers who can supply coffins made from FSC timber sources, made from renewable sources, locally sourced, and/or has biodegradable fittings.
- Natural burial grounds – we are happy to supply information on these type of cemeteries and where appropriate to arrange a visit to see the facilities for yourself before making a decision.
Bamboo
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth and is 100% natural and biodegradable. Supplied with a fitted liner.

Willow
A traditional style, natural willow coffin suitable for cremation and burial. It features a wooden base, load-bearing handles and is supplied with a cotton lining and matching quilt and pillow.

Seagrass
Seagrass is highly renewable and once spun into a strong yarn, is woven into this beautiful, curve ended coffin. Supplied with a fitted natural cotton lining and rope handles.

Cardboard
Our cardboard coffins are manufactured from corrugated cardboard and constructed using corn starch glues. Calico liners and natural rope handles are available. A variety of other colours and designs are also available.
